On the whole, yeah. It had its problems - with the exceptions of Chirrut and K-2SO, the characters were a bit thin; the first Vader scene was kinda cringeworthy (although the second was absolutely sublime); the CGI guest-stars from Episode 4 were just not quite convincing enough (although I tend to think that recasting those two iconic and vital roles would have been even more distracting, so I can live with it); the first half-hour is all over the place - but the good things far outweigh the bad. The second half is pretty fantastic, with its all-out action and hella bleak tone, and the fanboy in me totally loved the ending. On balance I think I probably prefer TFA, but that's mostly to do with how much I like Rey, Finn and Kylo Ren compared to any of Rogue One's characters. I'm really enjoying what Disney have done with the franchise so far, all things considered. Whether they can keep up this level of quality for long is not something I'm particularly confident of, but even if everything flat-out sucks from now on then we've still got two more good Star Wars movies than I ever thought we'd get since the prequels became a thing.
